Chris Jones, Senior Non-Destructive Testing Consultant

Chris is a non destructive testing (NDT) specialist with over 19 years experience in a variety of industry sectors. Chris has supplied NDT services during construction of castings, forgings, rail, petrochemical plant and a wide variety of engineering structures. Chris's career also includes supply of metallurgical services such as failure investigation, repair welding and condition assessment. Example damage for which condition assessment techniques have been developed include high temperature hydrogen attack, hydrogen assisted cracking, dissimilar metal weld cracking, creep fatigue damage (austenitic transfer lines), hydrogen damage (water wall tube), cracks in high temperature steam pipe, polymer material degradation and caustic stress corrosion cracks (on and offline detection). Chris' NDT and materials experience is mainly used for improving plant reliability during planned and non planned outages of petrochemical and power plant. This work is greatly assisted by MPT Solutions world class experience in fracture, corrosion and life assessment.

Chris's qualifications include: NSW Radiography Licence, Ultrasonic Technician (Newcastle TAFE and AINDT), Surface methods - Magnetic particle testing and Dye penetrant testing (Newcastle TAFE), BE (Hons) Materials Engineer (Wollongong University), Advanced Ultrasonic Flaw Sizing, Member of AINDT and Institute of Materials Engineering Australia Limited.
